A teenage girl and her little brother must survive a wild 24 hours during which a mass hysteria of unknown origins causes parents to turn violently on their own kids. Nicolas Cage perfomance in Mom and Dad might be one of his worst perfomances i have ever seen and trust me he has alot of them.
The overall gore and characters are terrible and unlikable and the whole plot of the film makes the last Purge sound like The Godfather. Also Lance Henrisken? why the hell was he here? and Selma Blair? her character pretty much ended with Hellboy II i think and it's kinda sad. Overall don't see this movie
It's just too impassable so has absolutely no verisimilitude. It's just another ridiculous idea to add to the ever growing pile. You might as well make a movie about postmen that suddenly turn into deadly robots.. You get the picture.
The other problem with this movie is that is stars Nicholas Cage, with his usual "sad dog" expression. One wonders where he ever learnt his acting skills? His acting has never been up to par and in this he maintains his usual monotone standard. All, in all just someones stupid idea put to film!
If you come to this film knowing that it was written and directed by Brian Taylor, who brought us such lovelies as Crank and Crank: High Voltage and the current series Happy!, it makes Mon and Dad a little easier to digest. You know when you each a whole bunch of greasy food, enough so that you're puking up the grease.....well, that kind of digest.
Although Crank and Crank: High Voltage were just 'Let's just run the cameras and see what happens' experiements that worked, Mom and Dad is the abortion of the same concept.
