If you come to this film knowing that it was written and directed by Brian Taylor, who brought us such lovelies as Crank and Crank: High Voltage and the current series Happy!, it makes Mon and Dad a little easier to digest. You know when you each a whole bunch of greasy food, enough so that you're puking up the grease.....well, that kind of digest.
Although Crank and Crank: High Voltage were just 'Let's just run the cameras and see what happens' experiements that worked, Mom and Dad is the abortion of the same concept.
Nicolas Cage should have been done many films ago(along with his brother John Cusack), yet because you can actually get by on Scale, he keeps cranking them out. What is sad about the Nicolas Cage films of the 2000s is that he brings the careers of other actors to their low points as well.
The premise of Mom and Dad-parents want to(and do) kill their kids -there is no happy ending -there is no silver lining -there is no hidden message -nothing complex, no twists, no turns-just killing.
If you watch the trailrer, you have seen the film. So watch the trailer, because it's better to make up 2 minutes 8 seconds of your life than it is to make up a lost 1 hour 23 minutes.
